The two piers — and why it matters which one you get
Hinode Pier (日の出埠頭) is the normal cruise berth, and it’s the good one: the town side of the harbour, with Dream Plaza next door and everything below walkable. Okitsu Pier (興津) is a container terminal about 4 km northeast used on some two-ship days — you cannot walk out of it; a shuttle or taxi is mandatory. Beyond walking range — the four directions

- Down the rail line: Shizuoka City — the shogun’s castle town. 11 min by train from Shimizu Station.
