The two piers — and why it matters which one you get
Hinode Pier (日の出埠頭) is the normal cruise berth, and it’s the good one: the town side of the harbour, with Dream Plaza next door and everything below walkable. Okitsu Pier (興津) is a container terminal about 4 km northeast used on some two-ship days — you cannot walk out of it; a shuttle or taxi is mandatory. Beyond walking range — the four directions

- Across the bay: Miho no Matsubara — World Heritage pines, black-sand beach, the ukiyo-e Fuji view. 25 min by water bus out, 15 back.
- Up the hill: Nihondaira & Kunozan Toshogu — the 360° panorama and the gold shrine. ~25 min by taxi, ~¥3,500.
