The old Tokaido post town of Yui lands almost all of Japan’s sakura ebi (cherry shrimp), served as sweet raw bowls and crisp kakiage. A short train ride up the coast, and above the town the Satta Pass gives the classic Hiroshige view of Fuji over the bay and the highway. A foodie’s day trip for repeat visitors.

Mt. Fuji is clearly visible roughly 3–4 days out of 10, best in early morning. Check the official live camera before you commit to a view-based plan — and see our Plan B.
