What the day is
A small group of no more than six travels with an English-speaking guide to Moriuchi Tea Farm, a hillside plantation run by a husband and wife who are the ninth generation to farm it. You walk the rows, hear how Shizuoka tea is grown and processed, and taste a flight of seasonal sencha. The day ends up at Nihondaira: the Yume Terrace observatory and the lounge of the Nippondaira Hotel, where the windows frame Mt. Fuji over the tea fields.
Why a local would pick this one
Shizuoka is Japan’s tea country, and almost every “tea experience” near a cruise port is a shop with a tasting counter. This is a family farm. It is long, so it only suits the longest calls — but on those, it is the most Shizuoka thing you can do.
