Shizuoka is called the “model capital of the world” — Tamiya, Bandai and Hasegawa are all based here, and the hobby grew from the same craftsmanship traditions as Ieyasu’s shrines. At Shizuoka Hobby Square near the station you can assemble and paint a model, with free beginner classes and a Tamiya-supervised workshop.

Mt. Fuji is clearly visible roughly 3–4 days out of 10, best in early morning. Check the official live camera before you commit to a view-based plan — and see our Plan B.
